  • Photo manipulation is the application of image editing techniques to photographs in order to create an illusion or deception (in contrast to mere enhancement or correction), through analog or digital means.

What happened to aging gracefully?

What happened to aging gracefully?

Although the manipulation of this photo was very minimal; it is still very serious. You can slightly see in the picture on the right how actress Rachel Weisz has loose skin on her knees and under her arm pits. You can also see slight imperfections around her collar bone and under her eyes. In the picture on the left, you cannot see any of these. These types of pictures are very unethical to me and many others because it has the people of society who views these pictures constantly questioning themselves because they are not as perfect as the photos.

Is it still unethical?

In the photo on the right, President Barrack Obama is seen discussing the recent Gulf Oil Spill with advisers, and on the right The Economist magazine cover shows the very same picture, but without the two people whom the President is speaking with. Is it unethical for the magazine to simply remove the other people out of the scene, even if it doesn't do any harm to the President? Many would say it is because it leads you to believe something that didn't exactly happen according to the real image.
